Ya Right...

I live on the corner of a huge construction site. As we passed in front of the construction area today, some workers where closing off the site for the holidays. Not wanting to move some gigantic propane tanks, they decided to tie them up on the fence with a thin metal thread. As we passed, the foreman was saying: "Naa, nobody gonna try stealing those. And beside, they're tied up !!"



That reminded me of our move to the new office building; our front door still hadn't been installed and as the security guard passed by, he said: "Just put tape accross the door. That way, people will know not to come in!!"



I sleep better knowing such intelligent people are around...

Vacation...

Moka and I are finally on holiday for the next 2 weeks !!

I had a fight with my alarm clock this morning. Who do you think won ?

Snow...

We received some snow on Sunday : 40 cm in total. Some city would be shut down for a couple of days. We were advised to drive safely...

I was all smilly on my way to work today and didn't even bother putting my ipod on. Listening to people cursing while trying to find their cars made my day. I'm that weird...

See the bumps here and there ? Yep, those are actual cars...

She's happy now...

I went shopping with my mom today. I know ; sooo news worthy !



She needed a new hat and mittens and we managed to find some sheepskin ones that made her very happy. See that smile ? She had it for the whole day ! It would even grow bigger when we passed in front of mirrors. Must be something in the wool...

Venting...

Let me vent here...




My office has been using the same DOS system since 1981. You read it right : a DOS system.



You are allowed to laught.



That system and I pretty much have a hate-hate relationship. There's all those codes to remember and depending on who created the page, the applications are either in French or in English, with no ways of knowing in advance. So that 30 minutes you just spent looking for the right codes ? Got to start from the beginning again because, well, you didn't pick the right language. And let me guess ; you didn't write those codes down neither, right?



I'm starting to have nightmares about it...

Dreaming...

I was dreaming about an amazing date and suddenly felt something moving beside me. I carefully openned my eyes only to find this :

Making Headlines...

My local bakery has started making this totally new thing called RAISIN.BREAD.WITH.NO.CINNAMON !!



I am proud to announce that I ate the entire loaf this morning.



Suddenly, eating my favorite breakfast is not as deadly as it use to be...

State of mind...

I have had this magnet on my filling cabinet for quite a while now. Somehow, coworkers seem to think it's the perfect definition of my state of mind after 2 pm...

Because I'm that great...

I went shopping today. I know; pretty uneventfull.



Except that I bought 3 pairs of pants and 2 tops for a grand total of 11.44$.



Now, that's my kind of shopping !

Overworked...

I'm completely swompt by work.

21 days 'till Christmas ...

We received 40 cm of snow overnight ! It's beautiful outside !!! By 6:30 am I was all dressed up and playing in the snow with Moka !!



Oh ! And thanks J. for the picture...



And when I finally managed to get to work (I know; I shouldn't be able to complain since I am actually walking to work but whatever...) a collegue had bought each of us a Christmas calendar !!! And yes, by 8:30am , I had opened the 3 "available" doors...

Because I'm worth it...

I decided to make myself a real diner tonight. I am usually making something real quick and eating in front the tv but I decided that I deserved better tonight. Don't get me wrong ; I still ate in front of the tv. But I took time to prepare a real meal, followed a recipe, made dessert and opened a nice bottle of wine.







This might become a weekend ritual...

Life ...

I had quite a nice Saturday. My twin was in town for business and we got to spend some time alone, without her kids. Thing we hadn't done in almost 10 years !!

I also had a few drinks with an ex. We hadn't spoken in almost 12 years !!! But that evening made me realise that it is possible to have a fun night out with an ex. Without any awkwardness or any hard fellings. Just 2 old friends having drinks.

I also realized tonight that the convenience store in front of my place sells Haagen-dazs Ice Cream cheaper than the grocery store !!!

Today was a great day !!

Construction update...

My mom is still keeping an eye on the construction progress of her new place... The reception area is done and there's even furniture in ! Looking quite fancy so far.

Miam...

Moka's new favorite snack ?



Shampoo. She has stolen and eaten 2 bottles so far.



I swear I am feeding her !!

I work in a office that likes practical jokes and big celebration. We just couldn't quiet the receptionist's birthday ! Her entire desk was also covered with tacky plastic flowers and confettis.

WE had a blast...

I had a slow Saturday ; Watched old and tacky movies, cleaned a bit... and opened the best bottle of Cremant.

Being a good girl, I wrote down my wish list on the white board at work ; task that we obviously take very seriously in the office...

Being my funny self, I wrote down: Surprise, Edible Surprise, Drinkable Surprise.

Moka and I spent 2 hours playing in the snow and I'm still not clear on who had the most fun...

What happens when you leave an old dog alone for too long ? The dog will eventually find a way to steal a can a fruit and eat it.

I spent about an hour looking in her mouth for open sores or something but in the end she was fine. I then felt so guilty that I went and bought her the biggest bone I could find...

Laundry...

I wasn't feeling well today and decided to treat myself with a Starbucks coffee. I quietly sat on the couch and cherished that thing. When I was putting my coat on and ready to leave, I realized I had chocolate smeared all over my white coat. I went and spoke to the manager who announce : "Woopsie ! Better clean that couch !" And disappeared...

What about ME ??

I wasn't expecting a front page apology but a free coffee while waiting for the Laundromat to do its magic would have been nice.

I should have stayed in bed.

Concert...

I was giving a theme concert this afternoon. I never understood the concept; I know they are suppose to appeal to more people and attract a different crowd but I just don't see why wearing a colorful costume with accessories would sell more tickets. But then again, for the first time ever , we had a full house. 900 tickets were sold...

Friends...

I was away for the weekend to do a concert and had dinner with some friends in the mean time ; I think I only miss the old city because of them. We had a great time, as usual...





The evening had a rough start tough ; it involved a pissed bakery employee giving us a tour of her shop while refusing to sell anything, but asking if we'd like to see their pamphlets... In the end, we got our wine, excellent sushi and great company.










And just because he asked for it : Here's JF eating some blue cheese after 20 pieces of sushi... Yeah, the wine was taking its toll !

I know you're jealous...

Just so you people down south feel a bit jealous...




I experienced my first storm of the season on my way to a rehearsal today!

My office doesn't have a door. And for some very stupid reasons. We've moved into our new building almost 4 months ago and I am still upset about it. Doesn't mean I can't make fun of it thought...

It's all about the walls...

My mom will be moving in a new centre in May and is quite excited about it. The centre is still under construction and she will be one of the first residents to move in. But she is so excited about it that she's been following the construction almost on a daily basis. I am glad to announce that the walls are up...

Happy times...

N. and me almost 10 years ago...

I had diner at my favorite cousin's tonight. He and his wife make the perfect team and they have the cutest little girl! That kid is a genius ; at 20 months, she can sing the alphabet song, recognize letters and knows her numbers. And gives the greatest hugs. And she's going to be a big sister next summer...

Almost there...

I've been driving back and forth between 2 cities for the past few weekends. A 4 1/2 hours drive that can seem forever at 2 o'clock in the morning. But my mom would be very proud to know that even though I'm taking pictures while driving, I am not speeding...

Here we go again...

My twin sister was recently diagnosed with cancer in the breast. A very mild form of cancer and something very treatable ; chances of recovery are 100%. But still...



I took an appointment this morning to get screened. Breasts are a very touchy subject in our family and with our history, there are no chances to be taken.



We are also transfusion-to-transfusion identical twins ; we shared the same umbilical cord, therefore have the same DNA. If one twin gets something, the other one will inevitably get it. How fun !!

I drove 10 hours since Friday night. I'm pretty exhausted (and so is Moka). Surfing the web while listening to some great tunes and drinking a very cold beer is the only way to go for tonight...

The best remedy after a 6 hours rehearsal ? Many, many jello shots shared between 2 friends...
