Bits of a conversation I had with my mom this week. In a restaurant. Talking about her new FM and notification system (for deaf people... )





JATP: So mom, tell me all about your new system ! So exciting !!


MOM: They are going to hide those giant vibrators under my bed !!! Can't wait to try them out !


JATP, beet red from all the stares: Euh... You mean they are going to put those giant vibrating plates under your bed sheets so you know when the phone rings or when the fire alarm goes off ?


MOM: That's exactly what I just said !! What's wrong with you ?


JATP: ...

In other news : We are in the talk of forming a brass 10tet. Really excited about it. So far, we've come up with a couple of rules:





- No hot pants allowed and bras required at all time.





Give us a couple of days and a few more beers and we should be good to go.

Conversation I had the pleasure to have while walking the dog this week...






Stranger : Hey ! Cute dog !! My name is Mark, by the way...


JATP: Hi Mark ! My name is JATP


Stranger : No way ! A palm reader told me my future bride's name would be JATP !!


JATP: Really ? Did she also mention the name of your CURRENT wife ?


Stranger, quickly looking at the band on his important finger : Yeah... See Ya !

Addicted...

I have a new addiction. A web site. Its name starts with a f and ends with a k. No ; not one of those sites. But you know the one...



Why I hadn't heard about that site before is beyond me but here I am ; an addict.



I had the chance to reconnect with old friends. People I haven't seen or heard of for many, many years. It's always fun to see where people that used to be in our lives are now at. I had quite a few surprises ; people whose live changed drastically since we last spoke ; always in a positive way thought. I guess we're all very fortunate people ! But it also made me realized that I am at the exact same place I was over 15 years ago. Yep, still living like an eternal teenager. Only with more responsibilities... and a few more wrinkles.

Life...

My mom had another stroke last night.



Right under my nose.



As frightened as I was, I was also comfortable being there. Helping her and taking charge. A very strange feeling.



In the end, the episode was caught early and no further damage was done. Her life will resume in a couple of days and life will go on.



But as I watched her sleep in her hospital bed, I realized that my life has been put on hold many times over the past few years in order to help others. Things that seemed very important to me but that were put to rest until, well, who knows. A deliberate choice I must admit but I am finally starting to feel the repercussions of those choices.



It might seems selfish to certain people but at this time, it seems to me that MY life should come first. So call me a bad daughter but as my mother will lay in her hospital bed over the weekend, I will be off on a Canyoning trip and drinking some beer.
